You can easily make a grid with a pattern (see above for the 'source' document. Select all ->edit -> define pattern

Set the pattern layer to multiply.
Presto!
As they say in Italy. Or Spain. Dunno. (you can easily make your own pattern if you need a larger or smaller version)
