momodot, I did a post recently about using a pastel color layer in Photoshop to remove ash/white spots on textures. The same can be done and works incredible on dark skin maps. To reduce ash, create a pastel golden layer above the map and set it to "Darken". This will convery all pixels that are greyish white to a soft golden pastel that is still a highlight. Use the opacity, or lighten the pstel, until it works. Many ethnic textures are greem. You can wteak that using the above method too. Hope that helps. You can also use the sin pallete colors to create lates for Hue, saturtation, that can tweak your maps.
