Yes this style of art started to come to the fore shortly after Warhole exhibited his Campbell soup painting. It developed into a state whereby it was not so much the art that was important but the ability to expound upon it and justify its worth. Those artists blessed with a fluent tongue found that public recognition was just a catch phrase away. Provided that you could spin a sufficiently engaging tale of why a pile of old tyres needed to be placed in front of the National Gallery there were apparently sufficient art foundations only to willing to throw money your way. As with the way of these things like minded artist started to form groups to discuss how they could further the genre. Seeking a name they decided after much debate to be called the Confederation of Natural Artists. What indeed could be more natural than everyday objects being placed in galleries for public display and, more importantly public discussion.
All was well until an art critic finding himself short of note paper abbreviated the confederations name to simply .....
CoN Artists :)
