Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 1:45 am)
Didn't read the other thread, as i am in kind of a rush. Did you report this to DAZ? I have something related happening, but it hasn't bothered me quite so much, so I didn't think much about it until I read your thread. When I load a library file, I get the hourglass for a second or two, and then it goes away...file finishes loading later, as you said. Odd. Haven't taken notice yet if this is only in external runtimes or in P6 as well, since I haven't used the P6 runtime alot. May have to go take a closer look at it.
The question should be "did I report this to CL?" .... and the answer is "no" - I should have done, but I don't have a lot of faith in their response times, judging by what I have seen reported on this forum. Are you able to interact with the Poser interface after the hourglass disappears but before the file loads up ? .... I'd be most interested to know. Thanks for replying.
lol, that is what happens when you are in a rush. ;) and yes, when this comes up for me...which isn't all the time, just some, i think, i can keep interacting with interface. first couple of times it happened, i just figured that i didnt double click. then i realized it eventually changed, lol. i'll have to test it again to see if i can pinpoint when/where if usually happens. (Haven't used P6 a whole lot except for testing...still trying to get used to all the bells and whistles that are new for this ol' vanilla P4 user, lol) Angela

Hi all, As can be seen from the attached link, this has been an ongoing P6 problem for me with no easy solution - in spite of some help from a couple of people - in particular Arien who was more than generous with time and effort (thanks, Arien). It's now really starting to give me a right royal case of the squirts. It is so annoying that I have had to go back to doing my work in P5. I think I need to present this and re-phrase the problem once again. It is difficult to describe the problem concisely but here goes : (1) Due to a system crash I had to re-format my PC and load it up using Win XP SP1. Before this, I had backed up all of my runtimes. (2) After installing P6, I copied the runtimes back - their location and structure is described in the previous forum thread in the link. AFAIK, the structure that I have and the position of the runtimes relative to P6's main folder is perfectly kosher. (3) The problem manifests itself just about every time I click on a library icon to perform an operation such as loading up a figure, loading a MAT pose, loading an expression, loading up INJ morphs etc. (4) The problem does NOT seem to manifest itself if I perform any of these operations from the Poser 6 runtime itself. (5) I was running P6 without this problem before my machine crashed. WHAT THE PROBLEM IS : Let's just say I am loading up an expression to a character. In Poser 5, I click on a library icon to perform this operation. The cursor then almost immediately changes to an hourglass or a little clock as a visual cue to me that the operation is in progress. It also locks me out of doing anything else while this is happening. This is DESIRABLE as I know the requested operation is underway, and I have some control over what is going on. In Poser 6, I click on a library icon to perform this operation. The cursor does not change to an hourglass or anything else, and I still have access to do all sorts of things like change the camera, click on different body parts, click on different folders in the library etc.etc. This is UNDESIRABLE and CONFUSING, as I am not getting any visual feedback as to whether or not the expression is loading up. Note that the expression still loads up successfully, though. WHAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT : - In both P5 and P6, I am still eventually getting the desired result (e.g. the expression still loads up OK). So its not a timing or a memory issue. - AFAIK its not an issue with runtimes - to the best of my knowledge they are in the correct place. - The issue is not specific to DAZ characters, or injection technology. It seems to manifest itself right across the board. If someone could help me with this annoying and persistent problem, I would be grateful as I am running out of toilet paper. thanks and regards, Andrew
