Jim, are you using ME?? I have heard good things about them. My Umax is probably 4 years old--and I agree. I wouldn't touch Umax with a 10 foot pole. There are lots of grumbles about them on the scanner ng, altho' I had good results from it using 98SE--and liked the scans--color, etc..
