When I realized that a low-polygon proxy figure could be used to speed-up simulation time, I actually started out making whole figures. But because the idea was about speed and simplicity, I decided to reduce the polygonal count by deleting those areas of the figure that rarely come into contact with the hair. Of course, the hands are an exception to this, but I was never quite satisfied with the way in which they collided. The torso and hip could be added for longer hair. But here again, my results haven't been very good. Besides slowing down the simulation, there is noticeable penetration of the hair into the body. There is no doubt quite a bit more to find out about dynamic hair, and maybe one of these days.......
