Not quite sure if the figures are in poser or Bryce but in poser you make a darker highlight. They look like they are in bryce though. In that case you have a dial in tha materials window. You lower the dial until it looks good. You might also need to change the specular highlight to a grey or something to mute it down but I don't think so.
