A footnote : it has occurred to me that when I got the problematic pattern on the prop, I had bumped up the atmospheric strength on the spotlight, and also set the atmosphere dial to about 0.01 to create a volumetric fog effect. I wonder if that had anything to do with it ? (I should have mentioned this at the beginning)
