http://www.3d-shop.net/Details.cfm?ProductID=389 Looks like an in poser version of mimic. Anyone tried this product? Can anyone give a review?

I found the site of the software company. They have web based demos and you can download a demo version of the software. It's PC only so I can't use it. After checking out the online movies using it, it sounds like a computer generated voice. With Mimic you can work with a real voice. In their FAQ they do compare it directly with Mimic (although they don't say which version). That can be found here: http://www.textpuppet.com/faq8.html I'm not a big fan of text-to-speech synthesizers - they sound like '70s sci-fi instead of real characters. I'd spend the money on a microphone and hand animate, but that doesn't mean that this product wouldn't be great for someone else. We all make do with what we have. Heck, I haven't been able to update Poser since I got the Pro Pack. I wonder if I put Poser 6 (for Mac) on my wish list if someone would buy it for me? BTW I like your "Namihei gang vs Wonder TenTen" image.

Before they made me they broke the mold!

I found textPuppet's lipsync to be somewhat more exaggerated and less accurate than Mimic's, from my earlier tests with the demo. The built-in text-to-speech didn't sound particularly convincing, compared to some of the better synthesizers out there. Also, I don't think the software is in development any more, so good luck on future support.

3dtrue has a similar product called PoserSpeak, which you might consider as an alternative:

PoserSpeak is active and works with Poser4, Poser 5 and Poser 6. It is also one third of the cost of textPuppet and one fifth the cost of Mimic. It is not an alternative to Mimic however. PoserSpeak generates (records) a wav file based off text you type. Mimic works with existing wav files you import. Hope this helps and warm thanks to Little_Dragon for mentioning me:) james true 3dtrue.com
