Thanks for the tip... however I have tried that... and everything else, but I still get grey. I used the little eyedropper - the dot as you show to show background color will not change ever from any color but grey. You will see that I made the other dots in colors... that one won't. I tried, as shown in the images, changing it in the display window, in the render options menu, and in the materials menu... never changes from grey. Image A shows the render with background as it always renders.
