Do NOT open the attachment!!

Renderosity did NOT tranmit this email. We will be investigating it's origin and taking proper action.

Lillian, I am not sure what you mean by renderosity email users, do you mean those who have email through rosity, or anyone who gets emailed post replies and rosity news etc.... also?

I got one of those in my Yahoo mail saying my account had been terminated for violation. Didn't open it, figured it was trouble. Thanks for the heads up!

It's happening to a LOT of businesses - I've been getting them all week with the "from" line in the msg header as being my ISP. So many tip-offs, though - they never actually used the ISP's company name, only the ending domain name and a generic department. And every support department I've ever worked for or with tells you NOT to open attachments. This message does, and it has a nice bogus claim of the attachment being "virus-free". Haven't gotten any that appear to be from Rosity yet. I'll give them one thing - they sure disguised the trace path well. Otherwise, I'd just reply with a nice zip file containing a nice shot of the old Israeli-B labeled "Social Security Number" .... ;) (For the curious - Israeli-B slams the hard drive heads down into the drive platter, ruining it. No hope of recovery or repair, even if the drive is sent to a data recovery lab...not that I condone this, even though the spammers and crackers and identity thieves deserve it...)

Lillian, I'm sure your team already has this, but here is a link to Symantec's info about the current email threat if anyone else would like to "know thine enemy". As a programmer, I can admire it's complexity. It's really pretty slick, albeit in a scary kind of way. But as a user and law-abiding citizen, this is a damn scary virus, because of the holes it opens in your system for future threats. Friends don't let friends open attachments. ;)

I figured something new was out there the other day when I got a "e-mail account suspended" notice from "Support@shrewslair.com" Since I AM "support" (and webmaster, and sales. and help, and admin, and every other title imaginable) @shrewslair.com, I knew it was some sort of virus. Especially since it was signed "Support Team" - and simce I'm the "team" and I know I haven't suspended my own e-mail account - that one was flagged and deleted unopened. Sheesh.

Hi silver, Thanks for the link. Yup, it was just another one. These kind of nasty emails are unfortuantely so common now. I just like to make certain that everyone knows not to open attachements like this. Some people have way too much time on their hands. Maybe they should be making art instead of viruses ;-) Thanks, Lillian
