The price and value is all in a perspective of how you look at it. All of this talk about Max (or any other figure for that matter) being expensive is making me think back through the years and realizing how "spoiled" we have all become in regards to third party content. If I remember correctly, the original Victoria 1 was something in the $70.00 range ... WITHOUT character morphs, or textures, or additional clothing. On top of that you had to get a texture (usually around $20-30). Morphs weren't added until Victoria 2, so you didn't have morphs for V1. On top of that, you'd have to get a catsuit (another $20 to 30), and hair (anywhere from $10 to $30 in those days). Add that up, and five years ago we were paying between $120 and $160 for less than what is included with Apollo Maximus for the current sale price of $50. If you consider the amount of time that it would take you to create all of that stuff yourself (Anton probably worked on it in excess of a year and a half), $50 is a bargain ... for ANYTHING we get for Poser no matter who creates it.
