Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.
It looks like you need to reinstall Poser if you want to use it. From the path that you show in the first post, you have the Curious Labs folder in a folder named 3D, under Program Files. I think the paths in WW are hard coded, so you need to have the absolute default path Poser installs to. There should be no 3D folder. The correct path should be: C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 5RuntimePythonposerScriptsPhilCWardrobe WizardWardrobe Wizard Menu.py Hope this helps!
Destro75, thank you! You're right, WW must be hardcoded, as all the other Python scripts run fine. I dragged the Curious Labs folder to the Program Files folder and it works! I always put my 3D software in Program Files3D, games in Program FilesGames etc to keep things organized and easy to find. I've never had a problem before, but this was about an easy of a fix as it gets. :D
Thanks again!

Well, I haven't tried WW yet, but if it has to be on my C: drive, then forget it. That's my win98 OS - I don't run Poser 5 or 6 in 98, I run them in 2K which is on my D: partition and I never EVER install anything to my OS partitions. All my other programs go to the E: or H: drives. I've lost too much stuff to crashes in the past - I won't go through that again (in fact, just last week I had to totally reinstall my W2K since something got screwed up and it wouldn't boot. Thank goodness I had the w98 as a backup OS or I'd have been totally out of luck). Kate (who won't use a program that won't allow installation on MY choice of drives and folders)
Kate: The demo version - so probably this goes for the full version as well - does not have to be installed to C:. I have it installed to my programs partition on D: and it works fine. I just tried it on E: and it works fine as well. You can even have poser installed to a different folder (with the script still in the default runtime). However, you cannot have a folder name in your path starting with a number - like 3d - or the letter x (internal variable?). BTW I'm running XP, but it should work like this on W2K.
Well, I have Poser and Win2K installed on my D drive as well. WW works for me too. However, my path is still correct. It is the same path as I posted above, just subbing D for the C. I understand not wanting to be told where to install your apps. I think there are reasons that the paths are hardcoded in WW though, so I don't complain, since it is a spectacular product. Coldrake, I am glad that worked for you! Now get to analyzing clothing! ;-)
I got the same error as Coldrake in WW and had to these three files: p4ww.pyc p5ww.pyc p6ww.pyc to the lib folder and it fixed it for me. I have to copy these three files to the lib folder each time there is an update to WW to keep things synchronized.
My path to the lib folder is G:appsposer6RuntimePythonlib
My path to the WW folder is G:appsposer6RuntimePythonposerScriptsPhilCWardrobe Wizard
Yes you should be able to install Wardrobe Wizard to a Poser installation that is not on the C: drive. Paths are hard coded into Wardrobe Wizard but only from Runtime down. That said I have known instances when Poser Python was not playing ball and the repositioning of the p4ww.pyc etc files to the Pythonlib folder fixed it. This is because Poser Python is "hard coded" to always read that folder.

I know PhilC has been really busy lately so I thought I'd post here before I e-mail him.
Every time I try to open Wardrobe Wizard in Poser 5 (with P5 SR4) I get a window with this path:
C:Program Files3DCurious LabsPoser 5RuntimePythonposerScriptsPhilCWardrobe WizardWardrobe Wizard Menu.py
and this message:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "", line 12, in ?
ImportError: No module named p4ww
I looked and there is a p4ww.pyc
If anyone has any ideas what's wrong I'd appreciate some help. I downloaded it last night I really want to try this thing!
