beryld, Daz does send notices to people who have already purchased a product of any updates to it. I know I've gotten them. They don't re-advertise on brokered (non "Daz Original") items. So if an update is made to an item, notices are sent to purchasers, but not a blanket notice to all Daz customers who didn't buy the product. That kind of information/advertising comes from the vendor themselves. Daz also retests whenever an upgrade or fix comes in for an existing product. This can slow down the release of the upgrade/fix, but does make it more likely to work when you do get it. Some other sites don't do any notification of upgrades, don't have a return policy, and when something is pulled for copyright problems gives no restitution to purchasers. Daz does all of that. I also know that Daz, like most sites, does make mistakes in notification. It's the usual kind of problem we see on a LOT of sites, where overworked web people and programmers make the too human error.
