Subject: Oh help me please!

Just finished an 8 hr render in Vue 5 and now it won't save the pic. No error message, the window just goes away after I click save. Even tried the drop down menu and still no save. Any ideas???? Cie

If your render fits in your screen, you can always try to take a screenshot and save it outside of Vue.

I know but it doesn't. It's 1600x1200. I'm doomed!!

Start it running again just before you go to bed and use the "save to disk" option. By the time that you wake up - voila, one safely saved image!!

Thanks. That's about what I decided I had to do. Bummer. :(

have you tried to display last color image? To get it back. And then right click on the image. Should work.

I tried re-displying it before closing and that didn't work either. Tried several times. The image would come back but still wouldn't save. :(

I too have encountered this problem. It doesn't happen all the time and I can eventually save the file. Just keep trying. It's almost as if vue is still doing something that hangs it up. But trust me, you CAN save it. I just wish I can remember what I did last time to be able to save it. If I figure it out, I'll let you know. In the meantime, see if this helps. When you render, it also generates an alpha and depth image. click over to one of those and try saving. It should let you do it. After that, go back to your color image and see if it will let you now. If that doesn't work, try hitting the escape key while the color image is up. Then try saving. Of course you should also make sure you have the latest patch. Not sure if they'll work, but I'm trying to figure out what I did last time. :) Good luck!! Dragontales

I'm certainly glad to hear I'm not the only one that had this problem. I tried that with the alpha and distant pictures and it didn't work. I got the feeling too that it was hung up but I gave up waiting. That was the first time it happened to me and it was VERY frustrating. So let me know when you figure it out. :) Cie

I never had that, not on Mac nor on Windows. Lucky me probably. But what i had several times was that Vue is not reacting to the mouse anymore - especially with Wacom tablets. Sometimes a little trick worked for me. To make the Vue window small and "reopen" it again. To give it a refresh for the display part of Vue. Maybe your Vue was in an unstable status already before your problem appeared. So maybe it is an option to always close and restart Vue before doing a long renderer. To be sure it not in a wild memory status.
