You could probably acheive baldness with an existing hair object either with a transmap, or just translating it down on the y-axis until the top of the hair disappears under the skull. It wouldn't hold up to a close-up, but it will work at a bit of a distance. But the Comb-Over Hair is cheap, and if you can get it, the Namihei hair is free.
