Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 27 1:25 am)
I'm watching all threads on P6 carefully, since I intend to buy it as soon as I get my PC upgraded (which should be within the next 2 or 3 weeks). Is the "shadow catch only" a default setting in P6 Mat room? And if so, can the default be changed? Or does it only apply to the ground plane? I'm asking because I've noticed this question seems to have appeared several times in the past few weeks, and given Poser5's not-exactly immediate response when entering the Mat room (especially if it has to search for the materials 'cos they're not where they're 'sposed to be), to have to keep changing the Ground texture would a real PITA... Cheers, Diolma (Rather long bookmark)
Is the "shadow catch only" a default setting in P6 Mat room? And if so, can the default be changed? Or does it only apply to the ground plane? The ground is set to "shadow catch only" by default. You have the option to set it on any other figure or prop in your scene. It's near the bottom of the PoserSurface window in the material room.

Hi all, Sorry if this is an insultingly simple question, but I have never noticed this problem before. I use P6 SR1. Prior to doing the render, I add a figure to the scene. I then make sure that the Visible property in the Ground's properties tab is checked, and I have also attached a material to the diffuse node of the ground in the Material Room. However, when I render the scene, it renders the figure, but simply refuses to render the ground - even though it captures the shadows of the figure. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this, please ? thanks, Andrew
