Well, I'm lucky, my entire family is involved in the 'ARTS' in one form or another, painitng, music, sculpture, writting, performance arts, etc. We were always encouraged to persue what made us happy....but I can see how your parents think, my hubby thought I was wasting time doing my site and CGI, offering freestuff, and brokering online until I started to pull in some cash. You can point to StarTrek, StarWars, and other scifi movies saying that CGI will eventually lead to jobs within the movie industry, and wouldn't your Dad be proud to see your name in the credits of a blockbuster movie! Do what makes you happy, if that's creating cgi, then do it!
