Xantor: Easy answer - A lot of people feel a need to impose their version of morality or taste on the rest of us. They can't comprehend that any other view than their own could be at least as valid. When they are simple enough to despise others for not thinking like they do, they also feel they have a right to attempt to force us to change, and they feel righteous when pointing out our lack of 'morals' or 'taste'.
