Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
I've tried Poser 4 in linux years ago. With wine it actualy would open but never fully functioned or rendered. Since 3D in linux is a openGl type of operation I'd think the chances of getting results might come best from using Poser6 or DAZ Studio. Those two both use OpenGl. I wish I had extra hardware to try it on again. If people keep trying eventualy it will be done. As for the radeon I'm sure that situation isn't helping. I've used NVidia based cards in the past just because they did real well with OpenGl support. Good luck.:)

My brain is just a toy box filled with weird things
Supposedly, a few have managed to make it work in linux. My problem is, I love the efficiency of linux SuSe 9.2, but I need to run only poser 5 and photoshop on it. With my new 64 bit, XP and XP64 really crap out on me. I'm sure there will be a solution someday, soon hopefully... Thanks for the input.
Win4Lin works, but it's so slow, it's not worth the time- unless you just work with Poser Pros without anything added to your runtime. I think the slowdown there is purely the library code being slow + an emulated filesystem. Also, when I was using win4lin, there was a very serious restriction on the memory. The newest version might be better, though. eric

Hello, I am a graphic artist. I was wondering how you got poser 5 to work in linux? I installed codeweaver, then ran the poser 5 install through it, then ran the update (newest one) through it as well. I got to the serial number entry and zapped that through. Every time I try to load it, to starts up like normally, but then bails out on me, before it finishes loading. Could you give me a hint, on how to go about fixing this problem? Any info would be most appreciated. my specs below: Abit motherboard socket 754 for 64-bit Athlon 64-bit(3400) ati radeon 9600 pro (256mb) graphics card AGP 4x-8x this may be the problem--I can't seem to find an rpm for linux.(self-installer would be better) 1gb of ddr ram 400mhz Thank you for your help
