** I wondered the same thing that FreeBass did. I've heard the word banana pronounced this way by people from Hawaii to Virginia, South Dakota to Florida: Bu (u as in "up") na (a as in "apple") nu (u as in "up) I hadn't heard any other pronouciations.** We Aussies pronounce it bar-nar-nah :)
