If you want to make sure that a light is pointing at the head (for example), you can select the light then use 'Point At' from the 'Object' menu. Note that in Poser 4 & 5 if you set the 'Intensity' dial of a light above 1.000 the change in intensity will not be visible in preview, but it will show when you render.
