There's not a lot of stuff on it yet, and I can't get the forums to work, but the site looks very nice and at least it's there. Love esther

Wonder why they didn't give infinity buyers a coupon? I spent just as much money in the buy the next side version game. Marque

jwhitham ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 8:31 AM

Esther, you don't seem to be in the Cornucopia member list. Have set up an account using the same username and password you use at e-on?

Mazak ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 8:32 AM

Have you seen the new trees? I wonder; are they SolidGrowth plants? I didnt see a description :/ Mazak

Marque, you are not listed either. If you have registerd Infinite you need to setup a Cornucopia account with the same details.

Hi, all...yep, Cornucopia3D opened today.

To get your coupon credited to your account (as mentioned in the newsletter, see link above), you must register at Cornucopia3D with the exact same registration information you used to register your Vue at e-on software.

Everything listed in the Plants section is SolidGrowth. E-on staff will be modifying the descriptions to make that clear - when they get back from their SIGGRAPH jolly. :)

Oh, I haven't regoisstered yet, that's probably why I couldn't see the forums?? Love esther

Yep, looks like the servers, Cornucopia and e-on, are swamped. :(

jwhitham ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 9:01 AM

Hi, again, Christie. I can't get in there or e-on now, how about you?

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 9:01 AM

BTW, E-on sent me the "cornucopia opening" announcement. At Gmail, it arrived as a binary attachment. I have no idea what's in it, or even what kind of file it is. No text message at all. Anyone read it? What's in it?

silverblade33 ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 9:02 AM

silverblade33 ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 9:14 AM

Two notes: 1) make sure you chose your correct application from list when buying (part where you have dorp down lsit it cna chose between vue5 or infinite, idiot me didn't notice that!) 2) I think they've made a major mistake in setting the system so it refreshes and shows you what you haven't downloaded yet at top of the page,..very nice touch for the customer but I bet it means, with the frequent refreshes, it HAMMERS their servers more than presenting one page with all downloads?

jwhitham ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 9:22 AM

Yeah, and very fast now!

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 9:35 AM

Seems to be slowing down again. At least for me.

There's some really nice stuff. I am definitely warming up my credit card. But I have to say...I find the store confusing. Some "items" aren't items at all - they are parts of bundles. Is it the bundles that have sub-categories? The actual individual items are all displayed under the main category? (Plants, say.)

Mazak ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 9:39 AM

The server has a heart attack! I am innocent :P Mazak

Mazak, we know it was you that broke it, we have ways... :)

Seriously; it's a huge project, and likely to see 100 times normal traffic today, some teething troubles are inevitable. Edited to say it's working OK for me.

It's working, but really, really, reeeeeally slowly. I want to buy, but it would probably be smart to wait until the crowds die down. Love the ecosystem materials. I hope there are more of those in future.

lol dern it, gonna have to check what materials I have downloaded and what I haven't. Really think they need to remove the "refresh" thing on the download page.

I am unable to open the site in my web browser, do you think it's because the server is overwhelmed?

TerraDreamer ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 10:54 AM

Well I got in, got my $50. Nice place there, nice moderators as well.

bruno021 ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 11:38 AM

Can you believe all these moderators who go by the names of wabe, coa and others kept their little secret from us? From now on, I'm not voting anymore for any mouse or green alien I see again in this gallery! (lol, of course!) BTW, is it me or there is no free stuff area? Oh, maybe when we all have spent our 50 bucks! Somehow, I doubt it though!

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 11:45 AM

The site is definitely overwhelmed. I think they are also modifying the code on the fly. Wahh. I wanna spend money, but the site won't stay up long enough.

jwhitham ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 11:46 AM · edited Sun, 31 July 2005 at 11:47 AM

When free stuff starts appearing it will be as zero cost store items. That makes it easier to find, and also means providers have to go through the same checks for copyright etc. as merchants, a good thing I think.

You used to vote for green mice?

As radnym77 says, sheer weight of traffic, plus there are e-on techies naling supports to the servers even as we speak. :)

Mazak ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 11:54 AM

Many of the items based on Alain Gracia former free stuff; my bad I didnt download them at time :( But I think the low price is well worth many of the objects. Mazak

Tip: put stuff on your wishlist, instead of in your cart. The stuff in the cart evaporates after awhile, and given the slowness of the site, you'll end up putting the same items in your cart again and again.

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 12:48 PM

Everytime I hit wishlist I get... your wishlist is empty ... lol well yeah you won't let me put my huge pile of things I want into it. ~G~ I'm very excited, see so many things I want. The site looks very nice to. But to be expected, first day an all. Grats to the team

silverblade33 ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 12:56 PM

Well I bought just about everything lol ;) Ok dunno if it's the Cornucopia site having glitches, me accidentally downloading wrong versiosn initially or what but.... Following items give "Unable to read file" in VueI :( -Bulky conifer -Glass material pack -Mountain material -Metal material pack -organic material pack -Marble material pack -Rock material pack. -Wall material pack -Wood material pack Tried redownloading as Infinite version, but still won't work. Dern they look nice and rest of stuff is fine.

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 12:58 PM

I was getting "your shopping cart is empty" for awhile. I kept trying, and eventually, it let me put things in the cart.

IMVHO, the store is not ready for prime time. I know, I should know better than to buy on the first day. What can I say, I'm an impulse shopper. :-)

There doesn't seem to be a way to use both a credit card and your Cornucopia credit to pay for a purchase. It's either/or. I originally had over $50 worth of stuff in my cart, but it wouldn't let me charge the difference on my credit card. It wanted me to add money to my Cornucopia account instead, which is lame. So I removed some items from my cart, and came in at $49.70.

I used IE, because usually IE works better with stores. Not this time. IE blocked me from downloading my purchases. Even when I clicked "download the file" on that drop-down, it wouldn't. I don't use IE enough to remember how to turn off that security "feature," so I logged in again with Opera and downloaded my purchases.

I don't care for the EXE installation files. I have both Vue 5 and Vue Infinite, and would like to be able to install my purchases to either, or both. But you have to choose one. Apparently, the installation code you give them determines which installers you get, and they won't work with other versions of Vue.

Haven't tried using the items yet, so I don't know if they work or not.

Vance_Max ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 1:01 PM

Interesting, from the looks of it the administrators have a lot of work to do before any real involvement by users can be accomplished.

randym77 ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 1:14 PM

FWIW...I just tried the conifers, and they worked fine in Vue 5. Now I just have to figure out how to get them into Vue Infinite...

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 1:36 PM

I spent 42 bucks of my voucher. (got the wishlist working to. Put it all in there first to get my total worked out. Once satisfied I moved all to cart and it worked fine.

silverblade33 ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 1:49 PM

Internet epxlorer is an arrogant pieceof crap :( have to go into Tools, security THEN custom level, pull down to LOW, to make it stop screwing aorund with downloads :/

But what is there is quite nice and prices reasonable. I don't mind vue only. Nice having one thing that I can install and be done with it.... of course 'install' being the operative word. So far I can't install anything. Well, does install but vue infi isn't recognizing it. LOL fun fun. Guess it will get sorted out. First day, got to expect this. I should have waited, but am also an impulse type shopper

Djeser ( ) posted Sun, 31 July 2005 at 4:09 PM

Thanks for being so patient, all! The response today has been quite overwhelming, and we're reporting all issues folks are having with the store. We will be checking in with the programming folks constantly to make sure these things are fixed. Since I'm the main person watching the Store Talk forum, I'm very grateful that everyone is being so cool about the glitches...it is most definitely growing pains! And as I mentioned over at C3D, the hamster in the server is running his little bum off! Djeser (ChristieK)
