Hmmm... About the floor lamp. I think I did the opposite of what you are saying. I took the imported pathes and applied a circular envelope to them? I may be wrong, it was so long ago. One other issue I had with spinning the paths, is that the paths moved from the center and there was no way to make sure it was exactly centered. Does that make sense? I could post screen caps.
