I've had the 20D since it came out, and have had NO problems with it. A major problem with a couple cards when I first got it, but it turned out to be the cards, not the camera. I went with the Canon, as I already had the 35mm rebel with a couple lens' and wanted to be able to make use of them and not have to buy any more. I could go on all day about the absolute joy that camera has given me, and not one second of regret about the cost. (Steep as it was!) but it is taking me from recreational snap shot taker, to beginning to persue a professional career now as a photographer. (Now I need a new lens or three, a new light set-up, etc. sigh Never ending process is it!) Can't give you the comparison on anything, but can only give my opinion. I love it!
