It looks like excellent work. Will the figure be compatible with V2 or V3 morphs and texture maps?

I do apologize for being a dick. But original usually means not using another mesh to capture topography and most definately doesn't mean taking credit for it either. You skinned V3. No other mesh has that specific eyebrow shape and her maps are only unique to Daz UV mapping. I am sorry if I have embarrased you. I almost said nothing, but these high end program derivatives bother me.

Anton, Very interesting, and no, you are not a dick. I looked at the other pics, and the body is much different from V3. The head bears a striking resemblance to V3 though. I have a feeling that it was used as an "attempt" to finish the model. If you look at the body, however, it is modeled completely different. Look at how sharp and square the shoulders are, compared to V3's really rounded shoulders. Also note the knees, and the feet. Aniko's feet are too small for her body size. Just a few observations. -The Starkdog

Yeah the head is what caught my eye. One of my morphs was partially used to develop the V3 head shape, so it is what always jump out at me, even reshaped or skinned. The orientation of the nostril cavities also is pretty telling. See how they line up with her nostrils?

Why would anyone want to name an original figure the same as the one "Have" was kind enough to give the community. Anton's right about the meaning of original. To copy mesh and names of others work is not original.

I will say though, it looks more like Anna Marie Goddard, in that face shot, than the clone.

There's one or two cases which have had much more than similarity. If there is anything, I'm sure things will happen. But we might never hear about them happening. I'd reserve judgement on the name. The other ANIKO character we've heard about seems to have been lurking in the background. A different name would be a Good Thing, but it is just a label. (What does ANIKO mean anyway?)

EnglishBob ( ) posted Thu, 11 August 2005 at 4:39 AM

Have's figure was called Eroko last time I checked - or is there another one I don't know about?

Have's other one is ANIKO, another great Figure. There was the old Man GENZO too. You must have missed them. You can get the new Goblin though. ANIKO is not a background lurker, good looking, yes, lurker no.

EnglishBob ( ) posted Thu, 11 August 2005 at 5:57 AM · edited Thu, 11 August 2005 at 5:58 AM

Thanks for setting me straight, beryld. I didn't get Aniko or Genzo at the time, having no immediate use for them; and I was thinking Have's bandwidth would get hammered enough when Eroko went public. I was going to go back later. :(

Is there a link to Have's page?

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

I don't think Renderosity will allow a direct link due to the adult content on his site; but if you visit my links page and look for Hondara, that is it. ;)

Another ANIKO is not a project of mine - It's a C.A. Royles' project...

I just indicated the link.

I am not embarrased. May be C.A. Royles would be...

Thank you

The problem with these new female figures is that they always carry the presumption of being derived from Daz figures. That's why I asked about morphs and texmaps. If the answer was "yes", that would be evidence that this figure is derived from V2/V3. However, if C.A. Royles is the responsible party, and if he never tries to distribute this model, it's a moot issue. Although we can't expect a response to any request in this case for evidence of originality, it would be reassuring to see all the modelling steps "ab initio", since the head is very similar to Vickie's head. If the shoulders and humerus joints are not as bad as V2/V3, that could indicate they were morphed to look more human. The telling features would be small details like the hands, ears, mouth, nose, etc., which nobody wants to model themselves, unless they're determined to do something new and original.

Anyway, thank you Mervpaine for the link.

Maybe these issues should be addressed to CA Royles.

I wouldn't expect a response, Merv. If it's an original figure, Royles will see the question as an insult, and he won't respond. But if it's derived from V2/V3, it's not in Royles' interest to respond. Since Royles didn't post this information here, I don't think we should pursue this issue. Let Daz handle it, if they so desire. However, their legal advisor (cooler) won't see this, as he hasn't logged on here since May 7th.

"(What does ANIKO mean anyway?)" Well in the case of Have's Aniko I would presume, that it means "Anime girl" Ani (short for Anime (Japanese for animation) and ko (Girl). Such rather humorous names are often used in anime. For instance the main characters in the anime Project A-ko are Eiko (A-ko) Biko (B-ko) and Shiko (C-ko) which translates to A girl B girl and C girl :) In (IIRC) "Nuku Nuku TV" The girls sitting on either side of the main character in class were named Migiko and Hiko (Left girl and Right girl) :)
