I get inspired by all kinds of different things. Lately I'm low on inspiration because I've been sick and just not paying attention to things like I normally do. Usually I have a very active imagination and think in terms of pictures sometimes, which sounds strange. But I can listen to music and regardless of if there are lyrics, the song plays itself out in my head in the form of a play. So sometimes I get inspired by that. Also, when I look at pictures/images, I don't see it as a "whole" image at first. My brain kind of breaks it up into bits and pieces and I see and appreciate all those bits first, before it's assembled into a whole image. So looking at a painting, might cause me to be inspired by a tree that I see there, or a moon. Also, this is going to sound even stranger, but sometimes when I'm in bed trying to fall asleep, I "see" images/shapes/colours when my eyes are closed. Sometimes they are rather pretty and interesting, so I write down the idea on a piece of paper before I forget about it. I tend to love to do collage art, so I'm inspired by themes, or cultural aspects of images that I see. Plus the biggest factor is my mood at the time; for both art and poetry. For poetry I find that I'm only able to write when I'm sad or upset, and that when I'm happy I don't feel "inspired" to write poetry. I guess it's how I work out issues and if there are no issues to work out, there is no need for poetry, lol When I'm feeling a bit blue, it's easier for me to make "dark" or gothic-like images than it is when I'm in a good mood. You can often tell my mood by the colours I use too. Lots of bright colours usually means that I'm well and happy and have it all together. Darker colours usually mean that I'm struggling with something in life.
"It is good to see ourselves as
others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi
