Another suggestion: You said you uninstalled Macromedia software, I would go into the registry and make sure all of the Keys are deleted. Just using the Uninstall function in Windows does not remove all of the keys even though it said it did. It's one of the first things I check when I uninstall. I'm assuming you've run Scan disk to see if anything is corrupt.
