You can duplicate layers by hiting CTRL+J on keyboard (I think its the fastest way to do it), on the tools pallete you have two squares one on another, its foreground and background colors. First is foreground and second bellow is background, by default the foreground is black and background is white. Press D on keyboard to get the default state, also you can switch them by pressing X on keyboard. OK by reading wath you write this should be the way: 1)press D and paint the mountain on background layer 2)hit CTRL+J two times to duplicate the layers 3)make the background layer active and press SHIFT+ALT+BACKSPACE to fill the mountain with black color 4)make top layer active and press SHIFT+CTRL+BACKSPACE to fill the mountain with white 5)set the middle and top layer to "overlay mode" its in layers pallete on top in the box (by default its "normal") I hope it will help you ;) Tihomir
