You need to change the hand's "scale" channels to "propagatingScale" (that is: scale, scaleX, scaleY, scaleZ -> propagatingScale, propagatingScaleX, propagatingScaleY, propagatingScaleZ). propagatingScale, most often seen on actor BODY, causes scaling on the body part with these channels to 'propagate' to its children.
C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the
foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg
off.
