Use XD if 3d is your main goal.

Personally, I like the challenge of creating 3d effects in software that is mostly 2d. I think that there is some artistry involved with that. Like I just said on the UF list: why paint a scene when you can just take a picture of it? That's more practical isn't it? But some people like the challenge of recreating a scene with oils or watercolor. I hope that these people aren't looked at as impractical or unwise just because they choose a different way.

If you want 3d and you don't care about much else, use XD or Bryce or whatever.
