So much is going on here what with nasty troll posts being made and all the issues of Hot 20 coming up. I just want to say I miss Dudley. Plain and simple. He has been my soul and inspiration for as long as he's been around here. That he has been assaulted in the way he has been, and even once in the name of friendship??? I just can't understand it. I don't think I WANT to understand it. Changes need to be made. I am not sure how the Admins would go about making these changes, but too many people have been hurt over that stupid Hot 20....Please...find a way to fix it before we lose anyone else!!!

We do understand your dissatisfaction with the current Hot 20 system & although we are unable to make immediate changes we are working on a more satisfactory feature, meanwhile please remember the Hot 20 is for entertainment purposes only. SndCastie Community Admin

With so many positive comments, why would one person affect him?

I've been a member here since 2001, I think, and not looked at the hot 20 more than 6 or 8 times since then. It's always been the same. Inevitable, given the way it's set up, and the nature of online communities with more than 3 members. It's just human nature. No rancor or irony. Just an observable fact.

Thanks Nancy. Weather never really bothered me too much until then. Now,...I get a little freaked out when the conditions are favorable for tornados. A new respect for what Mother Nature can do. At times like this,I watch the news like a "hawk". 8 ) They can come up so quickly. Thanks again. Tom

I've been reading these postings about the Hot 20 for some time now. I'd like to say "yes, get rid of it" but... What next? Then someone will get jealous because someone has more ratings, so that's got to go, then more comments, that's got to go, when will it end? I've never been in the Hot 20 and don't care. I'm not jealous of those who are, they're fine artists and popular...so what? If your work is really good, you will be popular. Is that a sin? I am saddened by this jealousy too. But is there any "Right" answer? I don't feel anyone should be able to bash someone else in these forums, claiming they're friends or not. The first tiime the name is dropped, the thread should be locked or deleted...period! Why wasn't it?

When we started the 3DCommune,we had requests for a Hot 20,AOM,AOY type of thing. After experiencing the horrors of all that over here,we made it a policy to never have anything remotely resembling the HOT 20 over there. I even fought to get rid of the ratings system too but I was out voted on that one. 5 Years have gone by and rarely will you see a problem concerning ego's and jealousy over there.(but when they did,it most certainly evolved from ratings) Perhaps it's because the Hot 20/AOM never existed in the first place and folks don't miss what they never had. I'm not sure this site could make such a transition smoothly. But for whatever reason, life goes on at other sites without a HOT 20. I'd wager that the staff here would breath a huge,collective sigh of relief to be rid of the endless HOT 20 problems. Think of the time and energy that would be saved for all concerned that could be better used for more important things. Putting out HOT 20 fires on a daily basis gets old.It's been several years now,and seems to only cause controversy rather than fun. If there is a need to have an element of competition,holding contests might be a better approach. I'm not saying that Renderosity should become more like the 3DC, but rather our decision to never have a HOT 20 came directly from the endless problems we saw here surrounding it. And we never once regretted the decision. Tom

I never look at that feature as I couldn't care less about a general opinion. I am used to decide for myself what I like.

We had a hurricane on Thursday, so I didn't really get to see much of the threads in question. However, I hate deleted threads. What is "Hot 20"?

I think in 4 years, I've been to the Hot 20 3 times..since I see all the pictures anyways, I just make up my own 'hot 20' or 2,000, or 20,000..;)

I have yet to find the LINK to the Hot20. Granted I haven't searched very intense for it, as it doesn't really interest me. I don't THINK any of my pics has ever been there... but as I've never looked, I don't know G Couldn't care less either. I love getting comments on my images, but the voting ... I don't really care about that.

I would like to know what happened with Dudley? I heard someone said something nasty, and if that is so, shouldn't the administrators delete nasty comments? IMHO, if someone has a problem with another person, they should email them privately. As far as Dudley, he has always been wonderful to me and comments on everyone's images. I hope he comes back soon!!!!

I agree with Avalonne... regardless of whether the Hot 20 problems get fixed or not, I miss Dudley... he's always been there with a comment or a suggestion since I first started posting on this site and I just flat out miss that... Hope he comes back soon and things settle down a bit around here...

Whether or not someone leaves (and I know they'll be back) they would want us to continue to create our work. One can get sick and tired of all the craziness that goes on here at RO. It will continue to happen over and over again but what can we as a community do? I say just go on and create.(thats my two cents). Have a good evening.

jeese, i was told at a young age, If you dont like it dont do it or use it. So if you dont like the Hot20 dont use it, its that simple. That way Dudley can stay happy (Who i think is awesome, and top of my fav artists) and those who just like to cause controversy can go elsewhere... Nuff said.. NOW LETS GET ON WITH ART PEOPLE.... You call this entertainment?? Artists are leaving by this humiliating list and it's not fun, but annoying. This will be the second time I have posted this comment regarding this issue, and I'm sure on it's on the way to lockdown soon. Two things need to happen here regarding the Hot20; Reform or Remove. I will elaborate.

Reform

Limit artists' images to one per the 7 day period, this will open up alot more slots for others that don't normally make it there since 3 artists are taking up 12 slots. Wanna flood the Hot20 with daily images, too bad. One image, one artist, one week...simple. Two lines of code, DONE. This should open up at least 8-10 slots per week for people who don't normally make it there. Make sense? Good. Also, include an option on the upload screen to not include the vote button for those who don't wish to be part of the game. Are you with me? Ok, good.

Remove

Get rid of the Hot20 completely as it alienates so many people, causes hate threads, anger, and self doubt to so many. It's an insult to many people, and frankly, it's a joke. I love all of the people on the Hot20, and honestly most are good friends, but I also have many more friends who feel like they will never be recognized and they are getting sadly discouraged. This is a healthy creative inspiration that should be entertaining? LOL! When we post images, why not just rate each one from 1-10 and completely humiliate us!

To Admin - The pleas have been uttered, the requests have been asked, please don something about it before more people leave. It's your store, not ours.

To Dudley - You are my rock star, my Moses in a downpour of locusts, my inspiration and my friend. Please come back so I can make art again! I'm too sad and upset to create anything! =(

I have been a member of Rosity for such a long time now.And yes hot 20 is a popularity contest.Same people all the time can cause other users not to even want to try to do art because they feel that it isnt good enough.I say it is not about how many comments you get that make your artwork good but how you feel when you finish it that makes it good.IMO I would get rid of the Hot 20 because why do we need it?Yes it might be for entertainment as you say but it can also cause alot of problems for other users.If other users are jealous of those that get ranked top everyday and it cause drama then why keep it?We all know and love alot of the artists work on there ,hell i love seeing some of the new artist that make it to the top but we shouldnt place people who might be better than other artist into a place where it is not equal.Having the hot 20 is a big slap in the face saying "your art isnt good enough deal with it".Art should be about ART not how many people vote on you or how many people comment on your work
