That base slider is tricky :) Try grabbing it at the end where you want to disappear...in this case the bottom. You can also grab it near the top and chop off the top of the mountains (objects) to create mesas. If you are grabbing it near the middle, you'll just move the entire slider. Also make sure to change your ojbects to "solid" or you'll get outlines instead. GL!
