About IR, I did experiment it a few days ago with a 720mstr at 50% filter.
It is not so easy to have a good IR result. You need a strong amount of light to have a neat shot, elsewere the shot is blured.... Considering the sun direction, the angle of shot is also a factor of good result. The exposure setting is quite complicate because you can't read correct indications on your cam.. I used a speedshutter between 1 and 4 seconds... Without tripod it does not work.
