Thank you both. Alexic, that's quite true: there's a great deal of cultural significance, and for myself I am quite ignorant of the details. There are quite a lot of Sikhs where I live, and to me in the picture I posted it looks similar to the turbans I see on Sikh men... maybe that's why I like it.
