I had that problem once as well, put together the same Poser characters (includsing hair, clothes and props) - does not count in what pose and saved it in the same place as the "original" was. Then Vue will recognise that this is an update of the original and you simply have to say "no" and hopefully your scene is back. Then ungroup the imported Poser characters (and regroup if you feel the need) so that the link is destroyed. Welding will help as well. Or saving as a vob and loading that then.
