RealDeal ( ) posted Wed, 28 September 2005 at 10:51 AM

106GB? how is that even possible? in my poser pro runtime I have 2.4GB, and thats with a LOT of PZ3's saved, and a bunch of my own "not quite good enough" creations. Hmm. the last time I backed it up, it fit on 2 CD's. I think I might be due again.

wolf359 ( ) posted Wed, 28 September 2005 at 11:08 AM

889mb. 11,276 files down from 21gb+. Got so fed with wading through folders named !!!, too many repaints of the same merchant resource kits, and products that say 250 MAT poses, which are really re-tinted versions of the same map, I trashed Poser. Backed up a few files, re-installed to a temporary runtime, weeded out the rubbish, renamed folders and resized some textures to a more useable size. Then backed the lot up to CD. Try it, it makes working in poser a lot easier.

Seeing I'm just reinstalling it all over again :( .....

I use multiple runtimes (25 of them)...the total of them all when fully installed.... 12.3 gigs compressed. Currently? 1.97 gigs compressed.

5.7 gb of poser stuff.( runtime + a d.loads folder)thats on a 200 gb hd :P

AtelierAriel ( ) posted Wed, 28 September 2005 at 5:58 PM

31.8 gb on a 114 gb second drive but the drive totals 77 gb and growing. Graphics, graphics, and more graphics. How does someone divide runtimes 27 ways? I'm dying to know. I have mine in basic catagories like Clothes, Poses, People, Objects, Scenes, Animals, etc. 27? How do you keep them straight?

C:Program Files:CuriousLabs (containing P5 & P6) 2.91 Gb F:External Runtimes (with 10 Runtimes) 26.6 Gb F:External Runtimes2 (with 6 Runtimes) 9.2 Gb I've got my .pz3 files in another folder, along with all the pictures I've done which is 3.58 Gb. Of course, using P5 & P6, I've deleted all the library .rsr files after making sure I've got a .png for the products so that keeps the size down.

AtelierAriel ( ) posted Wed, 28 September 2005 at 10:43 PM

Oh, thanks for the link. I love Dr. Geep tuts. But I know how. I did a major redo after getting P6 and have cleaned out a bunch, especially graphics that I would never use like green lipstick, etc. I was just wondering what the 27 catagories are.

Ok... let's try this again.... it ate my post... lol

Quote - How does someone divide runtimes 27 ways? I'm dying to know.

Animals
Misc Figures
Props
Poses
Mil Baby
Mil Girls
M3 Character addons
M3 Clothing
SP3 Character Addons
SP3 Clothing
V3 Character Addons
V3 Clothing
D3 Character Addons
D3 Clothing
Aiko
The Girl
Plants and Flowers
Vehicles
Christmas
Halloween

Apollo Maximus
Angels and Faeries
Mermaids
Backgrounds and Scenes
V2 Character Addons
V2 Clothing (for purposes of Wardrobe Wizard really)
Posette (again for purposes of Wardrobe Wizard)
Judy (for purposes of Wardrobe Wizard)

I may have missed some, lol

I also sort my runtimes into many sub folders. For example...

V3 Character Addons:
The library/pose folder has folders in it named for different merchants. For example, I have several of KymJ and Neomea characters, so all of their character folders go into the folder bearing their name. I do that with each of the Millennium figures, except for Mil Girl and Mil Baby.

V3 Clothing:
The Library/character and Library/Pose folder are sorted into:

Morphing Clothing
Misc Clothing
Jewelery
Shoes

Those folders are further sorted inside by outfit name. For example MFD has many textures for it. So I make one folder called "MFD" and anything MFD goes into that one folder. The MFD folder is further sorted by the name of the different dress textures that I have. So the path to my MFD textures would be: Library/Pose/Morphing CLothing/MFD/Texture Package

If you are redoing your runtime into multiple ones, this does take a bit longer to set up. However, once it's set up it takes seconds to install files after that so it's very easy to maintain... I promise one thing... you'll never ever be looking for anything again. Because of the way I organize, I know the exact location of every poser file in my library.

Er, that's rather a personal question, isn't it? Oh, well...if you're referring to the computer file, it's around 8GB...when I can get to the silly thing. It's on the dysfunctional USB drive...

Oh, can I relate to that. I've given up trying to salvage mine. I'm reinstalling the whole thing from scratch back to my laptop.

I noticed, as per the USB drive, that if I leave it off until I want to use it I get limited access times...kinda like a time-share condo...have you tried that?
