show me something you've made yourself. there are all kinds of possibilities here. it can a picture of your dinner that you cooked or perhaps you have a secret laboratory where you invent things!!! these are some baskets i made. you put them over a box of tissues and then pull the tissue up thru the center. i gave one of these to a friend. my mom has been teaching me the art of basket weaving. i've made some other baskets. when mom & i are together, we do all kinds of crafts. we make soaps, bath crystals, earrings, etc. Mom also taught me oil painting and stained glass. i don't have any pictures of my stained glass...gave everything away to family members...but i was making Tiffany lamps and designing my own pieces. i miss doing stained glass so much! Mom has a studio though. perhaps next visit we'll work on a glass project. :) anyway, can't wait to see your stuff! sorry about crappy picture. i took it a few years ago i believe.

... I do LOVE Bonsai ... and I 'made' this one

tvernuccio ( ) posted Sun, 02 October 2005 at 11:33 AM

oh how WONDERFUL!!!! a LIVING creation!!! i love Bonsai also and always wanted one. i've purchased several, but always given them away to friends and never kept one for myself. LOL! It's beautiful, Carlos!!!!!

solrac_gi_2nd ( ) posted Sun, 02 October 2005 at 11:44 AM

Thanks Sheila for your kind compliment.
As you know it takes many years to "achieve" (grow and build) a 'good' Bonsai.
It is not easy to suceed and I did have many failures trying to 'build' my collection.

27 years ago..(cough cough) when I was 18, I carved this with a cheesy pocket knife, it started out as an 18inch long board. 3 pcs, the center is a donut glued on top of the base, wrapped with brass wire. The Eye is a Brass brad & the teeth were the toughest thing, 2 brass brads with the heads cut off. Cool Subject!

That cake is surely a piece of art Nikki!! I'm wondering what was inside?? O_o

What a talented bunch of people! Especially like the box (certainly one of a kind). Knew right away it was Pen and Teller (I really like their weird shows!) And (smile), viva le Bob Ross (hehe)! And that manger scene...we need to see that when it's completed. That looks like lots of work! Oh, and I second the bonsai comments. Love them, killed quite a few of them myself before I decided I was better at growing tall weeds instead of short trees.

tvernuccio ( ) posted Mon, 03 October 2005 at 12:34 AM

Rinze, Sure it counts! You made it!!! it's a FABULOUS drawing!!!! but i have NO idea who Penn & Teller are. i see from Chuck's thread they're on a TV show. Rod, i LOVE that box!!!! Uh, i know you made it 27 years ago, but, uh...are you taking orders??? i'd like 2 please!!! one for kemal and one for my brother! :) Rita, Kimmers...you both paint BEAUTIFULLY!!!! You're both VERY talented!!! i used to oil paint, but i gave all my paintings away. no pics. :( Kimmers, that manger scene is GORGEOUS and sooooo creative!!! I'm sure Chrissy will love it and cherish it for years!!!! I'd LOVe to see it when you finish it!!! Nikki, oooooooh yummmmmmmy!!!! Definitely is a piece of edible artwork!!!! You make cakes professionally? I'm very impressed!!!!!! can i have a bite please!!! :) Carlos, you must give that Bonsai lots of tender loving care!!! so neat to see all your hand-made stuff!!!!! You guys are all so incredibly talented!!!!! I wanna see more!!!! :)

I love to bake and make some pretty yummy and quite unusual cakes, but i have no idea how to do these kinds of professional cakes. Bet it's a lot of work but most enjoyable!!!! Here it is early morning and you have me craving brandy-soaked fruit for breakfast!!!! :)

Great idea for a Simone Sheila! You all have wonderful skills and have created some very neat things.

Me, I made this little marshmallow park for my gummi bears to frolick and fraternize in. It is good to be the god and supreme ruler of your own little universe, even if it is just populated by gummi creatures. :)

...and of course, my most amazing creation, my daughter Kyra (with a lot of help from my wife Lisa).
