I actually made the first-ever animated GIF, about 16 years ago. ;-) I wanted to just mention that a proper GIF aniamtion will take advantages of the format to reduce the file size, something thayt can't be done by assembling mutiple full-frame GIFs, even though they work fine. Sorry Anthony, but I had to mention this. I used a freeware utility called (if I remember) GIF Construction Set to make later animated GIFs (my first were made as Anthony says, only many frames were partial), before Image Ready came around. Image Ready does a very good job, if you have Photoshop. I also should also mention that even back in 1989, it was stated in the format that GIF isn't really intended for animation.
