I think I'm happy with the shading as it is now. A bump map and I may be all set. There's a wee patch at the back of the turban that is very ugly, but it would take a lot to fix it... I'm inclined to doom it to postwork for those who must render the back of the head...

I knocked up a quick morph target in Extreme Morph to sort of bouf the turban up a little bit, since I was looking for something a bit bigger and the model took it very well. A side-view, pre-bump preview:
