I'm using Vue in wireframe mode. The above scenes were all default settings except for the material. I rendered to screen using the Ultra setting at 800x600. I also tried maxing out the settings. Same thing happened. The higher the setting the easier it is to see these squares. It looks like an egg because I resized it in photoshop to 300x300.
