It was Alien :D It's cross-genre as it's considered sci-fi by many. It was parodied in Spaceballs and helped launch Sigourney Weaver's career. In fact when I said "believe it or not", I was trying to make you think of Ripley's as Ripley was the lead character (or survivor) of the movie. I posted this at 5 sites and I have 10 winners.
