I think it definitly belongs in the photo-gallery. It is, like you said a montage of 2 photos that YOU took. I think it would have been different if you had used some kind of stockphoto or something, then it belongs in the mixed medium or something. Keep it and be proud, its one helluva a compo!!! How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when
isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is
supposed to be fire and brimstone?

As long as images are photographs that you took yourself or the odd time have permission from someone else, merging them in a paint program is accepted.. It is when different applications such as 3D rendeing get mixed up in them we ask they be posted to Mixed Medium or 2D. Once in a blue moon we may ask a memeber to provide us with the original if it is know the image has been seen elsewhere... and like the statements says...use your own judgement. I viewed an original image very similar to this one you have and I think your version is much nicer.
"The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the
absence but in the mastery of his passions."
as doug said, as long as the image is made up of your own original photos that you took, then a composite/collage is perfectly acceptable.. what may make this questionable to some, is there's no explanation provided in the text, like a location of the castle, camera &/or app used.. not necessary, but nice to read something about the image, especially when you're mostly a 3D app artist anyway, you did a fantastic job on this! :]
Thanks for putting me at ease. For the record this castle(?) is located on the shore of Gloucester Harbor in Massachusettes, USA. There are a number of examples of unique architecture around Gloucester which seems to have attracted some wealthy eccentrics in the early 1900's. The most famous would be the Hammond Castle built by the organ manufacturer and now open as a museum. The castle in this photo appears empty.. maybe for sale? The sky photo was taken over Block I. Sound on Oct 21 just a few days after the castle photo. Thanks all for looking.

I would be grateful for opinions on this and suggestions as to the appropriate gallery for its display. Of course I will move it if such compositing is frowned upon in this gallery.
Thanks in advance for your opinions and my apologies to anyone I may have mislead.
