I have to agree with chuck on this. If you get something that really means something to you, it won't matter what it looks like when you get old (unless it's not discreet). Put it somewhere no one will see it but you and your wife when you get old, and there shouldn't be a problem. At the same time, most people do regret the tattoo(s) after a time. You really need to spend some time and think about it hard. I have 2 tattoos...both of dragons. I love dragons. The one on my shoulder (you saw it in a thread a while ago) is big. It's been there for about 10 years, and even though it's not perfect, I still love it. I plan on having it worked on if I ever have the money. I got it shortly after I moved out on my own. The other one is on my stomach around my belly button. Everyone said don't do it because it will look bad later....well, I have had 2 kids since then and it doesn't look great, but I still love it. My mother bought it for me. Bottom line, they both are of something I will always love, and they both have meaning. So, I you have doubts, don't do it yet. If you can find something you love and put it in a good place, go for it! The smiley idea is perfect for you at this time in your life.....just like the LOTR elf font.....just think about how you might feel about them in another 20 years. :) It is your skin.....do what feels right for you. Now my book is at an end....sorry about the length....this is a topic I'm fond of. :)
