I am new to D|S, but check this. Using the surface tool for each surface You need to change light models to skin (on skin, other areas may be glossy plastic or metal), then make sure bump and texture maps in bump and diffuse color channel accordingly. It can be rather time consuming so save it. You probably on have colors set to plastic w/ no trans or texture map.
No need to think outside the box....
Just make it
invisible.
