Words are indeed fun! One of my friends, an astrophysicist, accused me of reading physics books just for the glossary. I play Scrabble. :) I actually like reading math and science now that I'm long out of school... just for the weird concepts. We didn't get superstrings or worm holes back then, much less prions and gluons. Watching as people make up words to fit the new discoveries helps me understand how we developed language all along our history. Whether it is making a flute out of bone or blowing glass or tempering steel, somebody had to come up with a few good words for the process and materials. For some really neat and obscure words, though, you have to go to the fiberarts: weaving and dyeing provide a dictionary's worth. Puns in other languages are rich, too. Trekkiegrrrl was the one who provided the link between caterpillars and tractor treads. Punning is a truly international (and ancient!) activity, and the more words we know, the more fun we can have. Maybe playing with words is the adult version of playing with food? So now, we can determine if this usage of ninnie is already common in the South.. or watch its progression. :wide evil grin: Beware of the bear with no ninnies! Be scared of the scamp in her skinnies!! She'd rather have died Jam-packed in her hide Flaunting her outies not innies. (running quickly away) Carolly
