Trimming down on unnecessary processes helps a lot. My workstations use about 110 MB physical, running WinXP SP2. "Allocating more memory to Poser" is a relic of its Macintosh origins. Older MacOSes (up till 9.x) allowed the user to set the amount of memmory a program could use. Modern operating systems (Mac OSX, Windows) dynamically allocate memory. "Out of memory" is also Poser 4's way of telling you it encountered something it can't handle (a missing file, for instance) Usually it has nothing to do with available memory. Check your content!
