i think that the problem with a lot of these requests is getting something that's actually what people want. like the requests for short, average male hair. i have at least 5 free ones, bought at least 3, know of at least 6 more to buy. yet people keep asking for it as if they don't exist. somehow, all of those hair styles aren't satisfying what people want. i'm not sure what's missing, but obviously something is. i often feel the same way about ethinic characters. many people have tried, but few have (in my opinion) succeeded. and the threads bemoaning the lack of ethnic or "real" characters keep resurfacing. basically i think, if you make something for v3 and it's skimpy, you can just make it fairly quality and lots of people will like it a lot. if you start taking risks on characters or styles, people will have something more specific in mind. if you make clothes for males, well, a lot of people want something that's functional and maybe only ancilliarily sexy, whereas if you succeed at just sexy for females, you're in. and in a way, it's the same for figures. if it's not v3, at least half of the time, i see people say, "wow, i would get that if it were for [insert favorite character]." basically, i think that if someone makes a david set with short hair, leather jacket, sweater and jeans people will look at all those elements much more critically and particularly than if someone makes yet another v3 fantasy/fetish armor set. not only will people know what it should look like, but they'll have specific ideas about styles and details that won't fit with the product. and they'll say, "i'd get it if it were for" everyone from m2 up to koji (let me know if there's a more recent male figure i'm missing).
