Subject: can I split a poser figure in carrara

If you have an imported Poser character (imported through Transposer, that is...) you will have to select the figure then do "Convert to Other Modeller" in order to open it in the Vertex Modeller window. That will break the link, of course. But at that point the model will have materials represented -- I can't remember if they are as poly groups or as Carrara's materials zones (I suspect the latter). In any case it is easy to select, add to, edit, and create new materials zones from there. If that is what you were asking! When properly imported Carrara will have created a multi-channel mixer shader that contains a complete set of texture channels for each material used. So it is fairly simply to locate "eye" or "skinHead" and adjust the material parameters. Go into the Texture Room and start playing. My last couple of images I juggled a bit with complex mixer shaders including small amounts of glow and fake fresnel effects for skin. I can't wait to try the new SSS modes in C5.
