yes Nikki, as myself, underexpose by 1/3rd and most times, 2/3rds (depending on conditons!)...Thats why I shoot in RAW + JPEG (separate files)...with blownout highlights in jpg, yer stuck!..in RAW, can adjust the exposure plus more etc..as we all know! In bright conditions, I always underexpose regardless! With a bit more thought and preparation, I feel there really is no need for overexposured/ blown whites (beginning to sound like a washing powder ad!!!!)
